Consultations
Individual consultations: in person, by telephone or email, Liz will discuss the issues that concern you or your family - and brainstorm the many ways to respond to them. She can help you develop “how to” plans to address immediate issues (where to live, how to provide care, how to pay for it, where to go for help, how to deal with dementia, how to deal with a difficult family member, etc.) or create plans for meeting longer-term agendas (planning for your aging, setting up advance directives, planning for end of life, etc.). Prior to the appointment, Liz will talk with you in a free, brief telephone consultation to make sure she can help. Consultation fees are $100/hr.
Family conferences are an excellent way to get a family to work together on behalf of an aging family member, even when there’s a history of disagreement. Usually lasting no more than 2 hours, a family conference can take place anywhere but is most often in the older person’s home or by conference call. It’s important to invite everyone who has a say in the older person’s life, including the older person (the exception is when he or she has dementia). Topics run the gamut – from getting one’s “ducks in a row” to signing advance directives to deciding on whether to move or get home care to making end of life decisions. Family conference fees are $100/hr.
Workshops & keynotes give audiences access to Liz Taylor’s commonsense ideas about aging deliberately, talking about the need to plan on behalf of both individuals and communities. See her schedule of workshops for examples. Speaking fees: $1200 plus expenses (for up to 2 hours). On a very limited basis, she offers a reduced rate of $500.
