Personal accountability and planning are key to having some control
over what happens to us as we grow older.

What we offer

Aging Deliberately educates and motivates people to prepare for what life holds as they grow older. There are three main paths, one for people who need immediate assistance, the other for longer-term assistance and the third for workshops and keynotes.

Immediate assistance
for people caught in a crisis -- a parent, spouse or neighbor needs care. What resources are available, and how do you find them? Who will pay for it? We offer three options:

• Individual consultations with Liz Taylor, founder of Aging Deliberately and a 30+ year veteran in the aging field. (Click here to learn more)

• Family conferences that help families figure out how to plan for an older member’s needs, work together to organize resources, divide the tasks, and get “on the same page” about possible solutions. (Click here to learn more)

• Free access to her award-winning weekly columns on aging in The Seattle Times.

Longer term assistance
for people who want to avoid crisis by actively planning for their aging – and have more control over what happens to them. Our goal is to inspire actions at both individual and community levels.  There are five services:

• Individual consultations with Liz Taylor -- to help clients develop their own “aging agenda” and plan for their future. You might even do this with a group of friends or a social club. (Click here to learn more)

Workshops and keynotes that address the issues we all need to think about, tailored to audience needs. See the schedule of workshops for examples.

• Community consultations – with city planners, nonprofits, churches, neighborhoods, and others  – to begin putting the infrastructure in place for their neighborhoods in the future.

• Writing on contract about an aging topic.

• Free access to Liz Taylor’s award-winning weekly columns on aging in The Seattle Times.

Workshops & keynotes give audiences access to Liz Taylor’s commonsense ideas about aging deliberately, talking about the need to plan on behalf of both individuals and communities. See her schedule of workshops for examples. Speaking fees: $1200 plus expenses (for up to 2 hours). On a very limited basis, she offers a reduced rate of $500.

Three of Liz's most requested workshops are:

•    Reducing the Wear & Tear of Eldercare: Intelligent Decision-Making for Your Aging Parent, Spouse – or Yourself, a six-hour workshop that prepares families and individuals step by step for what’s needed to care for aging loved ones (& themselves).

•    Long-Term Care Insurance: How to Choose a High Quality Policy, a two hour workshop that tells why to consider buying long-term care insurance and what to look for in a good policy. This is a purely educational program with no sales.

•    Aging Deliberately, a one hour workshop that discusses the basic ingredients of aging successfully, based on Liz’s experiences with her parents, her own aging, and her observations over the years.
