Meet Liz

Liz Taylor began her career as a consumer fraud investigator for the U. S. Federal Trade Commission, where she directed a nationwide investigation of the nursing home industry in the mid-70's. What she learned fueled an enduring passion and career as an award-winning journalist, pubic speaker, educator, and policy innovator in aging.

As one of Washington State's first geriatric care managers, Liz consults one-on-one with families and individuals, guiding them in making wise decisions in all the many ways to navigate our complex aging system, allowing them to have some control and age deliberately.

Liz wrote a popular column on aging in The Seattle Times for fourteen years, educating hundreds of thousands of readers about aging issues. Today her free online newsletter offers a wealth of information. Sign up here.

In the 1990s, Liz was primary caregiver for her parents for eight years.

In 2000, Liz coined the phrase, "Aging Deliberately," to express her firm belief that most of us age "accidentally," without planning or forethought. Instead, she believes, we must face our aging ahead of time, learning how to age on purpose - deliberately! Only then will we have some control over what happens to us.

Through her writing and speaking engagements, Liz is established as a highly informed, engaging authority who makes aging more interesting and meaningful. Her presentations have attracted thousands of people eager to hear how to care for a loved one and how they themselves can age deliberately. View Liz's presentation calendar.

"My parents lived in a facility in Seattle that wasn't taking care of them. Liz really heard our needs and desires and found a place that makes a world of sense for them. We couldn't have done it on our own."
